The Best Weekend of Our Lives
We found a dogsitter and went up to Bayfield, Wisconsin for their Applefest. Something that my family had been doing every year since I was little, but it had been a few years since I could go, so I was dying for him to go with me! It's always the week before my birthday, and was always an awesome way to celebrate: apple orchards, apple pie, carmel apples, apple jelly, apple mustard! And since I hadn't been there since I had turned 21, a whole new door of opportunity opened up: hard apple cider, and apple wine!
How do you like them apples?!
We experienced the Applefest - ate and drank just about every apple product on the market there. We went on a long, beautiful walk on the trail by the water. Perfect to see all the fall colors! By the end of the day we were exhausted. We returned to our hotel, and decided to have dinner there out on the huge back porch that they have overlooking Lake Superior. We ordered and ate a fancy meal. Afterwards, we went down by the harbor and sat on the dock, stared up at the stars, and talked. On the walk back to the hotel, he stopped me under a gazebo on the deck and dropped to his knee. Of course, I didn't realize it at first, was holding his hand and kept walking until I felt a pull lol.
He said some of the sweetest things I've ever heard and got a bit misty-eyed... or maybe that was just what I saw through my own eyes after hearing his speech :)
He asked me to marry him and I said yes. Then I got to put on the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen and call him my fiance.
