Game-Changer

When I was 21, I decided that my life needed drastic changing... and that is what I got, thankfully.  I was living on my own, in a new town 4 hours away from home, and attending a new college.  That's a lot of change for 3 weeks time!... and a week after that, I just happened to meet the love of my life.

It's the typical love story: boy meets girl... in a bar :)

I had only lived in town for 3 weeks, mostly being a hermit in my apartment with my roommate because I didn't know anybody except for her, nor did I know my way around the town.  I used my GPS for far longer than I care to admit.  A friend from Duluth came down to visit me and take me out on the town to celebrate the move.  So he, my roommate, and I went bar-hopping.  It was at our 3rd bar, one with a biker theme (not a typical place that either I or my fiance would hang out at), that they abandoned me :P one went to call a cab, the other went to the bathroom...

That's when I felt a tap on my shoulder.  I turned around to see an attractive man.  Then he spoke the words I had been waiting my whole life to hear, "would you throw this dart for me?"  It was magical lol.  But he made me so nervous (he was so cute!) that I told him, "Please don't make me, I'll miss the board and probably hit that girl walking by!"  Wouldn't you know it... I did miss the board.

We only got to talk for about 5 minutes.  In that time I learned that he was in from out of town with his friend (celebrating his friend's engagement), he was a few years older than me, and he was good at darts.

My roommate came back from the bathroom and the cab was on the way.  It was time to leave, but I didn't want to go.  I said goodbye, and walked all the way through the crowd to get to the door... that's when it hit me... something was telling me to go back and get his number.  I ran back to him, probably aggressively pushing people on the way - I was on a time crunch, don't judge!

He was happy to give me his number, told me that he was so glad I came back for it, but then I had to turn around again and leave.  I thought about playing it cool and at least waiting a day or two to text... I made it about 30 min :) we texted the rest of the night.  We called each other everyday for a week and talked for 4 hours each night!  And even though we lived 1 1/2 hours away from each other, we made plans almost every weekend for a year to see each other.

A year later, I moved in.  He had this note waiting for me...

...awwww!
